Jack qualified at the No 2 Signal School as a Signaller on the 28th October 1940. 

The Signals School was at Yatesbury in Wiltshire.

Afterwards he went on to qualify as an Air Gunner at No 5 Air Gunnery School at Jurby in the Isle of Man.

Jack served in North Africa in 1941 on Operation Crusader which broke the siege of Tobruk.

Jack was born in Houghton - Le - Spring, County Durham on the 31st december 1919.

Jack married in 1951 and they had 3 children.

Jack worked for The National Coal Board (NCB) in the accounts offices at Sunderland, Whitburn and Team Valley.
